This month, our “get to know” series once again moves beyond the walls of IPL’s offices as we introduce you to one of our partners. This month, we sat down and talked to Rohe Levy, President Rohe Levy Financial and Insurance Services, Inc.
Read on to learn more about Rohe, how he came to his current position, what he wishes more people knew about PPLI and, of course, what he’s watching on TV these days.
Rohe Levy Financial and Insurance Services is a third-party administrator and design firm for Premium Finance and PPLI contracts. We work with clients and their trusted advisors domestically and internationally and have been in business since 2004.
We work with IPL in two capacities of the PPLI structure. We are the FINRA licensed firm that structures the PPLI contract, and we also do all the medical underwriting and capacity checks on the life insurance.
Thank you for the kind words!
We see PPLI as a great family office structure. We believe that you need four parties to a successful PPLI structure, the Investment Advisor/Manager, the FINRA licensed life insurance design firm, an SMA administrator like Spearhead, and the insurance carrier like IPL.
This team approach is fascinating and very appealing as it is a natural fit to how we do business on the Premium Finance side and allows us to integrate more with high to ultra-high net worth family office teams.
I think there needs to be a lot more education on all levels on PPLI. End clients need to be educated on the availability of the strategy and so do the parties involved. Also, this strategy goes against the feeling many RIA professionals have that insurance professionals just want their clients (and also the idea that many insurance professionals have that the RIAs are blocking trying to block sales of life insurance products). PPLI shows that both sides can work together, and it can be a very good relationship when each party sticks to what they do best.
On the carrier path, I started in the life insurance industry after graduating from the University of San Diego in 2000. Then, after 3 years, in the business I decided to start my own firm and really focus on analytics and service. I don’t think of myself as a good salesman, but I am very analytical and knowing my strength we have created a niche to work with advisors at what we do best.
In terms of TV, I generally watch a lot of sports (New York Mets baseball games and F1 are my favorites). In terms of non-sports TV, recently have been watching both American Dad and Married With Children on Hulu.
